Many like nothing better than to begin the day by sending greetings from their phones. Millions of Indians are getting online for the first time-and they are filling up the internet. To tackle this problem, the Facebook-owned messaging app added status message so users could say good morning to all their contacts at once. As per a study by Wall Street Journal, Indians obsession with sending ‘Good Morning!’ messages are leaving one in three smartphone users in India run out of space on their phones daily. Many thought that the idea was loosely copied from Snapchat stories feature, however, the real reason is different.

The feature is available for both Android, iOS and Windows smartphone users.

WhatsApp last year in February launched its new status feature which lets users upload photos and videos for their contacts to see, instead of a simple text-based status message.
